Bestway Cement inaugurates its Line-I of 2.3 million TPA at Mianwali

Bestway Cement Limited, Pakistan’s largest cement producer achieved yet another milestone. The Company commenced production and dispatches of cement at its greenfield plant in District Mianwali. 

The plant is Bestway’s 8th production line with an annual production capacity of 2.3 million tons of cement. The state-of–the-art and most environmentally friendly plant has its own Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant of 9 MWs and 20 MWs of Solar power generation thereby meeting more than half of its energy requirement through green and renewable means. 

Bestway being the leader in water conservation was the first in the country to employ the Air-Cooled Condenser (ACC) Systems, and the Mianwali plant too has its own ACC system. This, along with rain-harvesting, should enable the plant to eliminate its reliance on ground water for industrial use.

A simple ceremony was held at the plant premises to celebrate the occasion, which was attended by the Chairman, Bestway Group, Sir Mohammed Anwar Pervez OBE H Pk, the Group’s CEO, Lord Zameer M. Choudrey CBE SI Pk, the Group’s Chief Financial Officer, the Honourable Haider Choudrey, Managing Director Bestway Group Pakistan, Mr. Irfan Sheikh, the Company’s senior officials and delegates from the plant suppliers, Sinoma. 

Lord Choudrey unveiled the commemorative plaque to mark the commencement of cement production at the Mianwali plant. 

“Under the patronage of our founder Sir Anwar Pervez our new greenfield production line at Mianwali has been set up in a record time despite various challenges and supply chain disruptions caused by Covid-19. By virtue of Mianwali plant”, said Lord Choudrey. 

“With this latest achievement, Bestway has an annual capacity of 15.3 million tons of cement based on 300 production days. This makes Bestway by far the largest cement producer in Pakistan – a commendable achievement for which congratulation are due to the entire Bestway family”. 

Lord Choudrey thanked the senior team that has been associated with the Company since 1994. He was particularly grateful to Bestway Cement’s supplier partners specially Sinoma, for working tirelessly to complete the plant in record time.

He went on to reiterate Bestway Group’s unrelenting commitment towards economic and social development of Pakistan and highlighted that Bestway Cement was one of the largest taxpayers in the country having contributed more than Rs. 245 billion to the exchequer. He noted that Company was providing direct employment to nearly 5,000 families and generated indirect employment for another almost 50,000 families. 

Lord Choudrey informed the audience that under the vision of Sir Anwar Pervez, Bestway has emerged as one of leading corporate philanthropic enterprise. Bestway Foundation Pakistan chaired by Lord Choudrey has contributed over Rs. 1 billion in the last 3 years to some of the best educational and health care institutions in Pakistan. 

Bestway Cement & Bestway Foundation have established and manage a dedicated girl’s college; multiple schools; basic health unites and medical dispensaries for the local communities where it operates cement manufacturing facilities. These community-oriented endeavors benefit over 20,000 families annually. 

Bestway Hum Sahara Programme – under the leadership of The Honourable Haider Choudrey is the Group’s latest philanthropic endeavour which seeks to rehabilitate victims of the 2022 monsoon floods. Under this initiative the Group has raised US$2.8 million through which 5,000 families (100,00 individuals) have been provided shelter; over 20 tons of medicines have been donated; 1 million litters of clean drinking water provided; 20,00 food ration bags donated, and 14,00 cocked meals provided and 3,000 individuals have received medical assistance.
