Bestway snaps up five new partners to support the independent retail trade

One of the retail industry’s most recognised programmes of help and support for the nation’s estimated 50,000 independent retailers gets a big shot in the arm.

This comes with the announcement of the involvement of five of the UK's top suppliers as new partners to the Bestway retail development programme - Wrigleys, AG Barr, Wiseman Dairies, Danone/Cow & Gate infant nutrition and the Nestle grocery division

These top companies have all agreed to support the Bestway Wholesale group with its two seminars in the North and South of England, later this year in May and June, when they will link with other top names like, Coca Cola, Cadburys, Diageo, Nestle Rowntree, Mars Petfoods who have all been involved since the scheme began nine years ago, Unilever has also been involved for two years. The individual two-day development sessions are available to the first 350 selected retailers who apply to improve their businesses when they can meet top suppliers, keen to share the latest news on their products and trends and their industry views on the year ahead.

Bestway Wholesale managing director, Younus Sheikh said, "We are delighted to welcome these top suppliers to the scheme, which helps us to further endorse our business strategy of helping the independents' to build their business. The scheme has gone on to become one of the leading development programmes in the industry and we are proud, along with our supplier partners, to be helping our customers improve their business further."

Independent retailers who attend the development seminars are also eligible to enter the annual Bestway Retailer Development Awards scheme which is held in October to find the retailer of the year as well as offering sixteen other awards.

With its new acquisitions in Scotland last year - Bellevue and Martex, the Bestway Group, through Batleys, will be expanding its development programme next year to include an exclusive seminar in Scotland for Scottish retailers.
