Younus Sheikh awarded top Whiskey industry recognition

Younus Sheikh, managing director of the Bestway Cash and Carry Group has been honoured by the Scotch Whisky Society and been made a "Keeper of the Quaich".

This is an exclusive group of people who have been awarded this title for their significant contribution to the Scotch Whisky industry over the years.

Younus Sheikh said, "I am delighted to have been honoured in this way and introduced into this Society and I feel very proud to have been able to play a part in the creation of goodwill and success for the promotion of Scotch Whisky over the years."

The award was made at a ceremony held at Blair Castle in the Highlands of Scotland. Keepers are inducted at a ceremony by the Grand Master, The Right Honourable Viscount Thurso. Thirteen countries were represented at the event.

The Society takes its name from the two handled drinking bowl which is described in the ancient Gaelic language of Scotland as a 'cuach' or quaich, a vessel long associated with the drinking of Scotch Whisky.
