Bestway reveals massive online push

Bestway, the largest independent food wholesaler in the UK has undertaken a major six month re-evaluation of its website offering.

As a result its new fully transactional website has been launched for independent retailers, catering, food service and the export market.  It is also serving as a new marketing and sales tool for the whole business

The new site, at www.bestway.co.uk has been under secure development and test with a select group of customers to ensure it meets all the requirements of all users to the site. Web orders are sent to the customer’s local branch so that it may be picked ready for prompt delivery or collection.

Dawood Pervez, Bestway board director with responsibility for Bestway Wholesale's Online presence said, "The considerable investment behind the new web initiative has ensured that we are now at the leading edge of on-line wholesaling in this country and are best placed to continue to add customer friendly services as we continue to develop them in the future."

Bestway’s group e-commerce manager, Jamil Mohammed added, “The new website is a further endorsement of our commitment to all our customers to help them build their businesses. The website enables registered customers to see the range that is available in their local branch together with local price variations and local and national promotions. Information about our services and own-brands are also available online.

“Our customers have little time to spare and our website will save them time. We have taken this further by offering all our registered customers a free hand held (fully rechargeable) product scanner which can be used with our website to order goods.”

Customers will be able to view a range of 17,000 SKU’s and check out the latest promotions, deals and weekly offers. In addition multi-buy deals will also be available at the click of a button. Customers are now able to review all their buying history to ensure they can see their buying patterns and keep up to date with prices and availability.

This information will be particularly useful for the current BIG Summer promotion which offers a 4% rebate on selected products; retailers will be able to see their total rebate build up and be aware of their running total as they buy throughout the promotion period. The BIG Summer promotion has also got its own web page and retailers can access that to see current deals. There will also be special promotional deals offered exclusively to customers who order on line.

Customer can sign up to receive email alerts and SMS messages on latest offers and news. Another useful tool enables retailers to print and edit point of sale (POS) materials in their own store.

One of the key attributes of the new service for retailers is online remote technical assistance service to help with any technical questions retailers may encounter with using the web or any hardware. This will provide users with that extra confidence of using a system where they can receive help and not be left to the perils of a computer service that lets them down at such a key moment for them in the running of their business. All websites are optimised for mobile phone use.

Other websites that have been launched include the Bestway Export site and the Xtra Local retail club site. The Batleys Wholesale site is expected to be launched very soon.
