Bestway Opens Its Latest Branch - Team Valley, Gateshead
Bestway group has opened its newest branch in Team Valley, Gateshead, North East England. This will be the group’s 62nd branch and will occupy around 80,000sq. ft. on a site with a footprint of around 4 acres, previously occupied as a printing works.
Younus Sheikh, Bestway Wholesale group's managing director said in announcing the opening, "We have been keen to expand further in the North and this opening has enabled us to reach more customers in this region who are currently having to travel further to reach us. The Team Valley opening completes a trio of branches that the group has in this part of the North East and will appeal to customers from north of Gateshead, Newcastle, Northumberland and Cumbria. We will be able to serve both customers from the independent retail sector as well as the food service side of our business who will find a large range of catering lines as well as a fresh meat butchery department. We are delighted to have been able to get this new branch up and running in a very short space of time from a standing start."
The new operation has brought with it 58 much needed new jobs to the North East and has cost around £6 million to purchase the site and carry out the construction work. All the electrical works involved with lighting, heating, ventilation, freezers and chillers are the latest economic and carbon emissions friendly.
The manager is Mr Naveed Anwar, who was previously deputy manager at the group's Manchester branch. He said, "This is a very important investment for Bestway and I am very proud to be have been appointed. We had a very buzzy opening and have introduced a lot of new customers to the group and to celebrate the opening, we are offering some extra special promotional deals during the first key weeks following the opening, including the group's BIG summer promotion, which is giving retailers a bumper 4% rebate on selected goods."
