Best-one's James Hall spells it out, "2012 will be a winner if we all get it right"

"Make no mistake, 2012 presents a really big opportunity for retailers, the like of which has not been seen for years with extra turnover and income all there for the taking.

"I would expect retailers to be able to increase their income by at least 25 %." This is the top tip from the Best-one boss, James Hall.

In his predictions to all 900 Best-one members for the year ahead, he spelt out the extra business opportunities that 2012 will bring with the Euro football championships, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and of course the Olympics. In addition there will be good sales opportunities for all the independent retail trade not only from increased tobacco sales but throughout the impulse sector when the "go dark" rule for the multiples kicks in next April. This is when the new legislation begins when multiples are required to hide all tobacco productsfrom public view. The convenience sector, with stores under 3,000sq ft., has been given an extra three years before they must comply.

Hall said,"I can't remember the last time we had so much new business opportunity in such a short space of time. If retailers really go for it in the right way, they will have one of their best years. Stocking the right products that shoppers will need for celebrations, whether they are holding street parties or just family events built around celebrating, will be the secret of success. There will also be bigopportunities with passing trade for the independents and our members that have shops near to the many Olympic venues, especially in East London."

Best-one is set to reveal their 2012 plans early on in the new year to help their members actually stimulate their local communities into planning events. Promotions for the periods will feature all the relevant products for celebrations and maximize impulse sales as well as cater for food on the go.

Hall concluded, "Next year Best-one will also be celebrating it's first 10 yearsin business and add that to what we are planning for the year as a whole for our members and I think we can say it's going to be a big winner for us all. I also have a good feeling that consumers will have had enough of the toughtimes and want to get out and enjoy some of the good things in life that all these events have the potential to create for the country as a whole."
