Bestway continues expansion - going north

Bestway, the largest independent food wholesaler in the UK, is expanding in the north of England with a new branch on the Team Valley Trading Estate in Tyne and Wear.

Agreements have been signed today and builders will move in shortly and Is expected to open to the independent retail trade and all Food Service customers in the Spring of 2012.

The sales area within the site is around 80,000 sq ft. and is being transformed from a previous printing works.  It will have the full Bestway offering. The branch will offer a full delivered service.  This opening will come fast on the back of a new branch at Brighton in November and will be the group's 62nd branch and will be the second Bestway branch in the Newcastle region.

More than 75 new jobs are being created with the introduction of this business into the area and the whole development willcost just over £6 million.

Younus Shekih, managing director of the Bestway Wholesale Group said, "We have been keen to expand further in the North and this opening will enable us to reach more customers in this region who are having to travel further to reach us currently.

"We are also pleased to be able to be in a position to bring the region a significant number of new job opportunities when there are few new jobs around."

The branch will be fitted with all the latest techniques to take advantage of curren energy saving devices involved in heating, ventilation, refrigeration and lightingwhich also reflect considerable savings on the amount of carbon emissions.
