Bestway Supports The Royal Marsden With £60,000 Donation

Bestway has donated £60,000 to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, money raised by the company at its annual Royal Ascot Charity Race Day in June 2012.

The Royal Marsden’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Rachael Reeve, was presented with a cheque by Bestway Group Chief Executive, Zameer Choudrey and Managing Director, Mr Younus Sheikh at Bestway’s Park Royal Headquarters.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money to help The Royal Marsden provide world-class care for cancer patients, and to support the hospital’s pioneering work in cancer research.

Each year Bestway selects a charity for its Royal Ascot Charity Race Day.  The event, now in its 17th year, has raised more than £1 million for good causes to date.

Speaking at the presentation, Zameer Choudrey said: “The Royal Marsden does vital work both in caring for patients and supporting cutting edge medical research and we are proud to support its efforts.”

Rachael Reeve added: “We’d like to thank Bestway for this kind donation and all the hard work its staff have put in to raise this money.  Support like this helps scientists searching for cures and doctors who depend on the latest cancer treatments and technologies.  Most of all it benefits cancer patients and their families and ensures we can make life better for people with cancer and keep striving towards a future without it.”

Bestway’s annual Royal Ascot Charity Race Day is just one of the Group’s charity initiatives.  Every year the Bestway Group donates around 2.5 per cent of its profits to the Bestway Foundation to support charitable causes in education and health in the UK and Pakistan.  Since 1987, the Group has donated over £13.4 million in the UK alone to fund the Foundation in its charitable activities.

The Foundation has used these funds to support schools and scholarships in the UK and Pakistan, along with a range of charities including Age Concern, Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, Crimestoppers, The Prince's Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital, amongst many others.

In October 2011 the Bestway Foundation supported The Pakistan Recovery Fund, initiated by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, to raise significant investment in homes, health and education to help the victims of the 2010 floods in Pakistan.
