Bestway Scores Hat-Trick of FWD Gold Medals

Bestway is celebrating a hat-trick of wins at the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) Gold Medal Awards 2012.

Having scooped the Gold Medal for Wholesale Service to Retail, Bestway went on to top the podium in both the Cash and Carry Manager and Delivered Depot Manager of the year.  It meant the UK's largest independent wholesale group claimed gold in three of the nine categories.

Amrez Akhtar of Bestway Wholesale in Stockport was voted Cash and Carry Manager of 2012.  The award recognises his efforts in growing sales by nine per cent year-on-year without sacrificing margin, along with his popularity with customers and colleagues alike.

Fida Hussain of Bestway Wholesale in Swansea took the top prize in the Delivered Depot Manager category.  His commitment to building a community feel with customers and working with them to build their business has helped drive a 31 per cent increase in delivered trade.

Mr Younus Sheikh, Managing Director of Bestway, says: “I’m honoured that Bestway has won three FWD Gold Medals.  The Wholesale Service to Retail award reflects a simple but honest approach we’ve held for 36 years: to build business for the independents.  And it’s always inspiring to see talent within our business doing just that.  I congratulate Amrez and Fida on their well-deserved awards and all those like them who deliver an efficient distribution channel between manufacturers and retailers.”

The awards were presented at the FWD’s annual dinner and Gold Medal Awards ceremony at Old Billingsgate on 29 November.
