Own Label Brands
In 1984 the company introduced its own label brands, ‘Best-in’as part of the Group’s effort to assist its independent retail customer base in competing under the prevalent difficult market conditions in the sector. It also helped in providing higher profit margins for both the customer and the Group.
About 700 product lines are available in the Best-in range with many new products continuously being introduced. Over 1,500 independent retailers proudly display ‘Best-in’ facia on their shops and regularly fill their shelves with ‘Best-in’ products.
Bestway re launched own label ‘Best - in’ products in 2005. With this launch, Best – in’s increasing range of grocery and household products continued to perform strongly and the overall own label sales account for 5.5% of group sales. This is partly due to the integration of Batleys own label “Buddies” with Best-in. In 2005 Batleys launched ‘Xtra Local’ – a club targeted towards independent retail customers, who can apply for membership through their local Batley warehouse. This provides extra promotional and logistical benefits to loyal customers. Bestin and Xtra Local club now has 1,300 members and is still recruiting new members. Xtra local perfect store format is now available to Bestin Club members as well.
In 2006, the Group introduced a unique and specially produced new own label brand of wines, "Cellar Estates". The Cellar Estates portfolio offers wines sourced from 9 countries, - from Australia to France.
