Given the ever-increasing demand for ethnic foods in the UK and continental Europe, Bestway Group established a specialist marketing company – MAP Trading Ltd (MAP).  To complement this, a rice mill was set up at Abbey Road.    

MAP today is the one of the leading companies in its sector.  The company was originally set up to import and market quality basmati rice from Pakistan.  However, over the years the company’s operations have diversified from marketing ethnic foods to importing, milling, packing, brand development and distribution. 

The company is the UK’s single largest importer of Basmati rice under the brand name of ‘White Pearl’ from Pakistan.  The rice is milled in the UK to ensured complete quality control and packaging.  The ‘White Pearl’ brand is unique in the sense that it is the only Basmati rice to be aged for around a year before milling.  The aging process helps in enhancing the aroma and the taste. 

Today, ‘White Pearl’ is one of the most trusted brands in the rice market.  By utilising Bestway Group’s distributional network, it is the best selling Pakistani rice in the UK and Europe. In the last few years the ‘White Pearl’ brand has been extended across other products such as flour, edible oil, lentils, pulses and spices. In order to fully penetrate the continental Europe’s export market, in 2001 a new state of the art packaging line was installed to produce block bottom packs.
