Bestway Cement

Bestway Group is the second largest producer of cement in Pakistan with annual capacity of 5.4 million tonnes.  Bestway has four cement plants which are all capable of operating at full rated capacity. The Group plays a key role in helping to revitalise the local economy by providing direct employment to over 2,000 people with a further 3,000 employed in the transportation of cement from our plants.

Bestway Cement was one of the first cement companies which was granted a license by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in 2007 and since then BCL has established itself as a leading foreign brand in India and continues to be the largest exporter through the Wagah border.  The company is also the leading cement exporter to Afghanistan; whilst exporting to new clients in UAE, Sub-Sarahan Afirca and Iraq.

In order to reduce the Group`s carbon foot print, Bestway Cement has established a Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant (WHRPP). The WHRPP became operational in September 2009.  The plant can generate about 15MW of power from previously wasted heat, thereby reducing the cost of production for the two Chakwal plants as well as their dependency on external source of electricity.   The WHRPP has been registered with the UN Framework Convention of Climate Change under the Clean Development Mechanism, making it the first such project in the Pakistani cement industry.
