Sir Anwar Pervez OBE, H Pk

Sir Anwar PervezSir Anwar began his career in food business in 1963 when he opened a convenience store in Earls Court, London. He ventured into the cash & carry business in 1976. Under Sir Anwar's guidance, the Group has diversified into milling of food staples; cement manufacturing, real estate management and banking. Today, the Group's annual turnover is approximately £2.0 billion and Bestway employs over 19,500 people globally.

Sir Anwar is the Chairman of Bestway (Holdings) Limited & its subsidiaries which include Batleys Limited and Bestway Cement Limited. Sir Anwar is the Deputy Chairman of United Bank Limited (UBL); Pakistan's 3rd largest bank.  He is a Council Member of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bestway Foundation UK, Patron-in-Chief of Bestway Foundation Pakistan, Trustee of Memorial Gates Trust and Charter Member of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. He has also served as a Trustee of the BritishEdu Trust, Crime Stoppers and the Specialist Schools & Acadamies Trust.

Zameer Choudrey BA (Hons), ACA
Zameer Choudrey

Zameer graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury and is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He joined Bestway as Financial Controller in 1984 and was promoted to the Board as Finance Director in 1990.

In 1995 he initiated the Group's international business diversification strategy and was appointed Chief Executive of Bestway Cement. In October 2002 Zameer successfully led Bestway's acquisition of United Bank Limited. He now serves as a Director of UBL and Chairman of the Board Audit Committee.  Zameer is also a member of the Human Resource & Compensation Committee. He is also a Director of UBL Insurers.

In recognition of his efforts Zameer was promoted to Group Chief Executive in July 2004. In January 2005 he successfully spearheaded the £ 100 million acquisition of Batleys Limited. Under his stewardship, Bestway's cement manufacturing operations have blossomed to become the 2nd largest in Pakistan with a capacity of 5.4 million tonnes per annum.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and the Institute of Directors. Zameer has also been a member of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Confederation of British Industry from 2004 to 2008. Zameer is a Trustee of Bestway Foundation UK and Chairman of Bestway Foundation Pakistan.  He has recently joined the Board of Trustees of Crimestoppers UK and Caravan. He served as a Governor of John Kelly Schools (Crest Acadamies) in North West London from 1992 to 2002.

Younus Sheikh BSc

Younus SheikhYounus is a science graduate and has a Diploma in Leather Manufacturing.  He joined the Group at its inception in 1968.  He was a founding director and key member of the team that was involved in setting up the cash & carry business in 1976. Having risen through the ranks, he moved to the head office in 1985 as Trading Director. He was responsible for setting up the successful Central Buying Office.

Following the Board reshuffle in July 2004 he was appointed Managing Director of Cash & Carry Businesses. He is a Director of Bestway (Holdings) Limited, & its subsidiaries & Bestway Northern. He is a Council Member of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors and is a Trustee of Bestway Foundation UK and Pakistan.

Adalat Khan Chaudhary
Adalat Khan Chaudhary

Mr Chaudhary is one of the pioneers of the Bestway Group. After spending a considerable period of time as a retailer, he began his career with the company as General Manager of our first depot in Acton. He later moved to the Abbey Road depot, which is the largest cash & carry warehouse in Europe.

In 1994, Mr Chaudhary was responsible for setting up the successful Central Ordering Department at head office. He is a Director of Bestway (Holdings) Limited, & its subsidiaries & Bestway Northern. He is a Trustee of the Bestway Foundation in both the UK and Pakistan.

Abdul Khalique Bhatti

Abdul Khalique BhattiAfter spending a considerable period of time as a retailer, Mr. Bhatti started his career with the Company working alongside Sir Anwar and Mr Chaudhary at our first depot in Acton.

He later moved to the Southall depot where he established a thriving business. Mr Bhatti joined the Central Buying Office at Head Office in 1996. He is a Director of Bestway (Holdings) Limited, & its subsidiaries & Bestway Northern. He is a Trustee of the Bestway Foundation in both the UK and Pakistan.

Arshad Chaudhary MBA

Arshad ChaudharyArshad is an MBA from Henley College of Management, UK. He joined the Group in 1984.  He has held several managerial positions including General Manager Acton warehouse.

He moved to the Central Ordering Department in 1990 and was elected to the Board of Directors in May 1993. In 1994 he was elected to the Board of Directors of Bestway Cement Limited and worked in Pakistan between 1994-1999. He is a Director of Bestway (Holdings) Limited, & its subsidiaries & Bestway Northern.  

Arshad also serves as a Trustee of Bestway Foundation Pakistan.

Rizwan Pervez, Group Operations Director
Rizwan Pervez

Rizwan is a business graduate from the University of Pittsburgh.  He trained with a leading UK firm of Chartered Accountants, qualifying in August 1995 and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He joined Bestway as a Financial Accountant in 1995 and was elected to the Board of Directors in January 2000 as Group Business Development Director. Rizwan has been responsible for developing Bestway's Retail Club, ‘Best-One' which today boosts more than 500 members. In November 2000 he initiated Bestway's distribution & delivery service ‘Bestway Direct', which has since then created a niche for itself in the sector. Since February 2005 he has led and managed the post acquisition integration of Bestway and Batleys Cash & Carry Operations.

He also advises Bestway representatives on UBL's Board of Directors on issues concerning Human Resource Management, Business Acquisition, Corporate Planning and Strategy. He has also served as a Governor of John Kelly Schools in North West London.

Dawood Pervez BA (Hons), MA (Oxon)
Dawood Pervez

Dawood was educated at Eton College and has degrees from The University of Manchester in Politics & Modern History and  Oxford University in Jurisprudence. He is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. Prior to joining Bestway in November

2002, he worked for a pre-eminent global law firm, Linklaters, where he specialised in international corporate and structured finance work and also spent time seconded to their Tokyo office.

He was elected to the Board of Directors in July 2004 and was appointed the Company Secretary for all UK companies.  He heads the property investment and development businesses of the Group and is also the director responsible for the Human Resources, Training, Health and Safety and Property departments in the wholesale cash & carry businesses of the Group. Dawood is a Trustee of the Batleys Retirement Benefits Scheme. He has also served as a Council Member of the Law Society of England and Wales representing Commerce & Industry.
