Bestway Raises Money for Dyslexia Action

Bestway has partnered with Dyslexia Action for its 19th Royal Ascot Charity Race Day on Friday 21 June.

Each year Bestway selects a charity for the event, raising more than £1 million for good causes to date.  Last year it donated £60,000 to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.  This year money will go to the UK’s leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.

One in 10 people are affected by dyslexia to varying degrees.  Along with reading, writing and spelling, it can also impact organisation and memory.  Dyslexia Action is a national charity that exists to change lives for the better.  It specialises in assessments, teaching, training and consultancy.

Zameer Choudrey, Bestway Group Chief Executive, says: “Dyslexia Action does vital work in ensuring those affected by dyslexia and other literacy difficulties receive the help and support they need.  We are proud to support the charity as our partner for the 19th Bestway Royal Ascot Charity Race Day.”

The annual event will take place in Ascot’s Sandringham Restaurant and the newly designed triple-decker marquee.  Alongside the charity auction, a TV celebrity tipster will talk guests through the form guide.  Money raised will go towards Dyslexia Action’s core work, supporting projects such as the Dyslexia Action Learning Fund, which provides subsidised tuition to disadvantaged individuals, and Dyslexia Action Online – the development of online accessible support particularly for those from hard to reach and disadvantaged communities.

Kevin Geeson, Chief Executive at Dyslexia Action, adds: “We’d like to thank Bestway for selecting us for its 19th Royal Ascot Charity Race Day.  The demand for our support is huge and far greater than the funds we have available.  The money raised this summer will go towards projects that have the potential to completely change the way that those who need it are able to access our help.”

Bestway’s annual Royal Ascot Charity Race Day is just one of the Group’s charity initiatives.  Every year the Bestway Group donates around 2.5 per cent of its profits to the Bestway Foundation to support charitable causes in education and health in the UK and Pakistan.  Since 1987, the Group has donated over £13.4 million in the UK alone to fund the Foundation in its charitable activities.
